My Students

My students this year are passionate learners who need a little bit of extra help. They will go out of their way to make you smile with a funny joke, or give you plenty of hugs if you're having an off day. They support each other and praise their friends with positive encouragement. My students are very special in so many ways. They are learning to work hard and don't let any personal obstacles stop them from working on their goals.

We need a little help to get our wiggles out.

As a class, we have problems focusing, and alternate seating options could help us move WHILE we work! I have studied and observed classrooms that have alternate seating options and have learned by experience that when students get to choose how they learn they stay more engaged!

My Project

The donations for this project will improve my classroom by reducing the number of behavioral issues because I will be able to provide the appropriate stimulation that my students need. By using exercise balls for chairs, students will be able to bounce while they work to keep their brains focused and engaged.

The kids were so excited when I showed them a wiggle cushion and how it was used.

They were expressing how it could help them stretch while staying seated, and give them the opportunity to move while they work. One kid even said, "I think I would work SOOO much better Mrs. R!" Their excitement was papable. Last but not least, the bouncy bands will benefit the class for those with ADHD. Still sticking with the movement while learning approach, these would benefit quite a few!

As an educator, I truly believe that the students should be apart of some learning choices in the classroom. We discussed the alternate seating option together and came up with a list to chose from. Then, we voted for our top three options. I did tell them about this website and that there is a 50/50 chance that we could get the supplies we need, or possibly not. They were asking if they could walk door to door to collect money, bless their hearts. I really hope this first project is a success.
