My Students

Our school serves children in grades pre-K to 5th grade. Many of our students are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants who are new to the English language. Some of our students are currently living in transitional housing. Additionally, we have a large special needs population.

Our students love to be in school and to learn!

Many of our students have difficult home lives and being at school provides a safe environment. PS 164 is like a second family to our students and our staff.

My Project

It is a tradition at PS 164 for the fourth grades to visit Colonial Philadelphia. After studying about the birth of our nation, the fourth grade teachers like to give our students a first hand experience of the important sites that helped shape our country.

This field trip is an opportunity for our students to leave NYC and visit an important historic landmark.

Our day starts with a walking tour, where students visit the grave of Benjamin Franklin. Students will also see the original site of his home and post office. Students get to visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Explaining to students that they are standing in the room where the Declaration of Independence was adopted is an amazing feeling.
