it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Inspiring young readers is my challenge. My students enjoy reading. However, our school does not have class book sets. This can make it difficult to engage young readers in critical analysis of text. Your donation would help each of my students to explore a piece of literature in depth.
I teach 4th Grade at a Title I school in the inner city area of NC.
We are an International Baccalaureate school which focuses on learning through student centered inquiry. We strive to help our students become life long learners. Although our goals are grand, due to funding challenges our school can not supply class sets of engaging books for our young learners.
My Project
My students need 25 copies of "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing," "Tale of Despereaux&," CD, and "Sideways Stories" set to enhance our reading unit for fourth grade. Each student will receive books to read and use to engage in book talks, discuss the elements of a book, and write book reviews. These group activities will help my students develop critical reading and writing skills. The students will be able to reflect on and connect to what they read.
You will make it possible for my students to develop a love for reading, improve reading test scores, and motivate my students to read daily.
My students will learn how to think critically and become lifelong readers. More importantly, my students will be inspired to always look deeper into whatever text they may encounter it the future.
