This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we continue to see public education defunded students and schools like ours suffer the most. My school district is facing a massive budget deficit for the next school year. This means there will be about $50 million that will directly be cut from our school sites, which will cause schools to have to make tough decisions about how they use the little funding they will be given. These cuts will deeply affect schools' abilities to support their teachers in purchasing classroom materials and supplies for the upcoming year.

This project will help with being able to provide supplies and snacks all year round for my students.

Since funding is tight this year I want to make sure my students have access to snacks without worry. Other supplies included like pencils, tissues, and yarn ball will be needed throughout the year. The yarn ball will be able to be used as a tool for our peace corner.

Lack of funding includes less funding for teachers to receive materials they usually spend money on. The rest of the supplies are for me to be able to laminate, make anchor charts, cut materials and more.
