My Project
The requested resources will support whole-child education in my classroom. In particular, the books included will help students self-reflect, make connections with others, and identify and understand emotions. "Get Students Talking" offers ways to address anxiety, self-esteem, and relationships, and "Would You Rather" is a light and fun twist to learning about each other and finding things in common - all important in my 6th-grade classroom. The Grumpy Monkey books are great for illustrating the importance of self-awareness and social awareness. "The Dirt Girl" incorporates themes around overcoming bullying and confidence, and "Ricky the Rock that Couldn't Roll" incorporates topics of inclusivity and friendship. The canvas painting supplies are a great way to meet whole child educational needs by including the arts, creativity, and imagination. Lastly, the Magna-Tiles, interactive globe, and world maps will create numerous opportunities to integrate academic learning stations with group projects. Group learning will focus on soft skills such as communication (listening and speaking), time management, organization, problem-solving, leadership, and empathy. They will also extend this group learning to presentation skills.
