This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are determined and kind middle school special education students. They have a great deal of enthusiasm. They especially love music. They are behind their peers academically but they put a lot of effort into everything they do!

Our school is located in a low income neighborhood and it is difficult for us to get the supplies we need to help this unique group of learners.

It is an urban area filled with diverse cultures. The city itself is a low income community surrounded by wealthier communities.

My Project

We are requesting the Versatiles Literacy Set which will help my students improve their decoding and comprehension skills in an engaging and interactive way. Many of my students are struggling readers. They are often unmotivated to improve their reading skills. It can be challenging to encourage my students to improve their reading skills.

When students reach seventh and eighth grade, they are often embarrassed to be struggling readers.

I would like to motivate and encourage my students to improve their reading skills with this Versatile kit. It is something they could work on independently or in a small group. It is a fun and interactive way to motivate my students to improve their reading skills.
