This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am so proud of my students, who amaze me daily with their resilience, determination, and joy. My students have moderate to severe disabilities, but they approach every challenge with courage and a love for learning. Cooking is more than making meals, it is a way to foster independence, build life skills, and boost confidence. This project will give my students engage in opportunities to learn practical cooking techniques in a safe, engaging environment.

The hand mixer and mixing bowl set will help develop fine motor skills as students mix ingredients for simple recipes.

The toaster oven and sharp microwave will allow them to practice heating and baking safely, while the waffle maker and electric skillet will expand their versatility and confidence in cooking.

The food coloring set will make lessons more fun and engaging, sparking creativity in decorating and experimenting with recipes. The 4-tier shelving unit will keep us organized, teaching the importance of maintaining a clean workspace. Lastly, the disinfecting wipes will ensure a hygienic environment and teach critical cleaning skills.

My goal is to provide a meaningful learning experience that equips my students with essential life skills while encouraging teamwork and self-confidence. Every recipe we complete together is a step toward greater independence and empowerment.

What makes my students special is their unyielding spirit. They face challenges bravely and embrace learning with enthusiasm. With your support, we can give them the tools to succeed in the kitchen and beyond. Thank you for helping my incredible students thrive!
