Fostering Critical Historians

My students need some books in Spanish to supplement our learning in Social Studies in Spanish. In addition, we need an iPad adapter to present our projects, and a few books that teach about great women!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse, enthusiastic learners. They love science experiments, reading, and writing comics. Our school is a true community school, providing many supports for the families of students, and connecting families to many local resources.

My students come from various parts of San Francisco, and attend a Title I school where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch, and many families are in transition with housing.

These fifth graders are excited to engage in a bilingual classroom. They believe that school is work, and take this job seriously!

My Project

I teach about 28 bilingual students, and have to instruct Spanish literacy and history/science content. These books will help us to diversify our Spanish library, and to make sure that everyone in our classroom can access texts at their level.

We need books that teach the standards, but that also teach about our world today.

These books will help my students to get inspired, and to make connections to current events in our community and in our world.

Your donation will help me as a teacher to provide an experience that is more kid-friendly, and will supplement our textbook, which many students cannot access at a reading level that is right for them.
