Ms. Pendergrass from Atlanta GA is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a dual 3D printer to create wonderful projects.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As an educator teaching in an economically challenged community, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Even with the challenges they face everyday, my students will not let that stop them from learning and growing.
They are excited about technology and learning new things.
Their excitement challenges me to create more technology-driven projects to drive their STEM/STEAM education and foster their creativity. While they come from varied backgrounds, abilities, and cultures, they stand united in their desire to learn and work together!
The main focus of this project is on invention and innovation. I would like to implement a STEAM initiative using 3D printing technology, using CAD software as well, in students creating their own models and inventions for use in real life scenarios. In additional, the students would also be utilizing already created 3D programs in order to understand how 3D printing technology works and be able to master it. The technology in this 3D printer will help teach standards from the new science curriculum being implemented next year, help students create new and innovate models, presentations for our STEAM units, and promote innovative thinking skills for creation of new products.
Donations for our 3D modeling program will help to diversify my students knowledge of how technology works and how futuristic technologies can be used in various ways.
I cannot do this without the help of community leaders like yourself, donating to my classroom.
