My students need to have the ability to explore and create in a makerspace full of materials that fosters creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking.
"Mrs. M., this is so cool! Do we have to leave?" are some of the statements that my students used last year when their teacher came to pick them up. They were so engaged and focused on each activity in the makerspace that they didn't want to quit. When they walk into the media center, I want to provide them with a world of opportunities.
That passion and inspiration is what drives me to want to give them more experiences.
My Project
Makerspaces help to build creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration. Students will be able to use the items in this project such as the Bloxels to be able to design their own video game. This will help them learn the process of computer programming in a practical way. With the purchase of the Code and Go Robot Mouse the younger students will have a very visual demonstration of what computer coding is about. The K'Nex building materials will help foster engineering skills as the students create and design projects.
Through the items in this project students will have many outlets to express what they are learning.
Through the various robots such as Dash and Ozobot students will be able to explore computer programming and coding through different formats.
I look forward to watching my students' creativity shine through as they visit the media center.
