Our school seeks to reach every child, every day - no exceptions. In my class, we believe that everyone is a "math person" and that the way we define mathematics can open up the possibility of all students being mathematicians. My students look for patterns and create rules for what they see in the math. They build on each others' ideas and help each other out. If you ask my students, they'll tell you something they are most proud of is the way we communicate as a class.
My students are pattern-finders, problem-solvers, and mathematical-thinkers.
I have three classes of 30-40 students each.
Each student comes to school wanting to learn, and we strive to find ways for each one to connect to the mathematics.
These books will help enhance my mathematics classroom, which is a place for students to love learning. My classroom library is a place where students can borrow books and take them home with them. This year, I want to incorporate a whole-class book that we will read sections of at the end of class. I hope to spark students' interest in reading and show them that mathematics is more than just computing numbers - it is problem solving and connecting. I chose this book because of its connection to mathematics and because it is based on a true story.
With these new books, my students can develop (or continue) a love of reading as well as mathematics!
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and this class set will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. This project will enrich my students' learning and math class experience :)
