My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, and our elementary students have many challenges in and out of the classroom. Many of them receive a free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These challenges can hold students back so I do whatever I can to give them every advantage I can. I am looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.

My students have disabilities, but they don’t let their disabilities hold them back.

They strive to do their best everyday.

My Project

These materials will help me bridge my transition to working with younger students with special needs. The students I work with have to practice phonemic awareness and math skills repeatedly before they can master them. It can get rather repetitive and boring for the students so I try to incorporate as many different and fun activities as I can. The students learn better when they use as many modalities as they can. These materials will engage my students through interactive play and they will be learning as they play the games and do the activities. That’s why these materials are so important and necessary for my students.
