My Project
My 2nd graders are kind and inquisitive little human beings who thrive on opportunities to move and express their creativity, emotions, and energy. We are often singing, dancing, and making art as well as working on the core subjects of reading/language arts and math. There is a lot of joy in my classroom!
This year, through flexible seating, I would like to give children more options to work in ways they each find comfortable, and to be able to collaborate in the classroom with their peers so that learning becomes more fun and accessible to them.
I plan to start small with a set of colorful stackable stools and some Bouncyband Wiggle Wobble Chair feet. Right now, children have to move heavy, clunky chairs to sit with partners in different areas of the room, but the stools will make transitions easier and safer. The wobble chair feet will allow my students to move and get their wiggles out so that they can focus better during lessons and independent work time.
My students truly enjoy being able to sit and work with their friends on partner reading and solving math problems together. These flexible seating items will make my classroom a more comfortable and collaborative environment.
