Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a West Texas town that is big on activity and sports so keeping kids active in their learning is a must. Although my students come from a variety of backgrounds, they are all very active.
I will have a very active and excited group of second graders coming to me this school year and I want to provide them with an environment that facilitates that.
Each child loves learning and creating a love of learning environment is important. We like to incorporate a variety of learning strategies as well as group work and flexible seating options that will meet students needs. They are a great group of kiddos and I am so excited for the opportunity to help them grow!
My Project
The seating options I have requested are great choices for student seating. Flexible seating will allow my students to choose what works best for their learning style. Right now, the only options my students have is stools or chairs and a few lap desks if they want to sit on the floor. My fellow team members have noticed a change in student learning once they implemented flexible seating and I hope to see that change as well with having more options available for my students.
My students will be more excited and engaged in their learning with more flexible seating options.
I have noticed that choice in stations and other aspects of learning can help students take ownership of their learning so I hope flexible seating can elevate ownership even more!
