My Students

Our school is a culturally rich community with thirty-two different languages represented within our student body! Although the students in my class are unique in every way, they all get excited about one thing: learning that involves collaboration, creativity, and technology. The wide spectrum of writing ability and the high number of EL students in my class are what has inspired this project.

Many students are eager to gather more information on the various topics we study in Science and Social Studies.

Students want to learn more about rocks, government, heroes, the life cycle, and various other topics. Although our school is culturally rich, we are technologically poor. My class only gets access to the computer lab once a week for 50 minutes and the occasional use of Chromebook carts. This limited access makes it difficult to incorporate technology into the learning process. It is my hope to eventually have enough Chromebooks to give my students easy access to technology on a regular basis.

My Project

My students are motivated and energized by the use of technology within the classroom. Having two more Chromebooks with headphones will enable students to research, write, explore, and learn throughout the academic disciplines. Presently, the wait time to use the Chromebooks in our classroom often exceeds the time they have to work on a project. Two more Chromebooks in our classroom will allow students better access to technology when they need it the most.

My students learn best through hands-on and project-based learning.

They can often be found working in groups and interacting with each other as they research and explore new levels of learning. With a classroom sound system, students will not only be able to easily hear my direct instruction, they will also be able to hear directions while busily working in groups. In addition, their teacher will end the day more energized and with her voice in tack!
