My students are absolutely thrilled about this new forensics course being offered. I love to see their enthusiasm about learning about a new subject that has never been offered.
However, due to the lack of funding, our school district does not have the ability to provide the curriculum or lab kits needed to keep the students engaged in this class for an entire year.
I am requesting two $100 gift cards to Teachers-Pay-Teachers to purchase a high school forensics class curriculum with a full year of embedded lessons, assignments, and lab ideas. I added two lab kits dealing with blood typing and identifying fibers, which go along with some of the lessons included in the curriculum that I selected.
We wanted to offer more STEM-related courses for our students in our low-income area. I would probably use these resources in my Biology, Chemistry, and Human Anatomy/Physiology classes as well. I have 100 students, and my goal is to help them explore as many career-related topics in the science field as I possibly can. Most of our students follow degrees in the medical field or ag science.
