This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My high school students are coming into high school for the first time in September. It is the start of their educational careers that will be counted towards what they want to do in the future. Since students participated in virtual learning for the past two years, I want them to come into school and see a beautiful classroom, tailored for science and representation. I want them to see beautiful bulletin boards. My bulletin boards will showcase their work (projects/activities from TPT) so that they can be proud of all the things that they are learning to do throughout the school year. This will help create pride in the work that they need to create for the rest of their educational careers. Science activities and games will be used weekly in the classroom I want them to be able to see how cool science can be when you put your mind to it and gamify it. Science gadgets made by other teachers on TPT will be in the class for students to explore. The gift card will also be used to purchase materials for decorating and enhance learning in the classroom. Teachers Pay Teachers has a great selection of “sciencey” decorations, worksheets, games and PowerPoints for students that can include racial and cultural representation. They also have many activities connecting science to the real world. This is extremely important for students to know that they are seen and can be scientists too.
