This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I've had the amazing opportunity to welcome a kind, diverse group of scholars to my classroom - and for many of them, this is their first experience with the school environment at all.

My school serves some of the highest need students in our area, and I want to set a foundation for academic success.

My students bring a variety of languages, cultures, and backgrounds to our classroom, and many of them are still learning how to be ready to learn at school. However, each and every child has such a great potential to learn and we have high academic expectations for our kindergarten scholars!

My Project

I have been teaching writing four years now, and it becomes more exciting every year, to see these students grow! Growing up, my teachers had always used a document camera or an overhead projector to model writing, math problems, worksheets, etc. Being a visual learner, it helped me to understand what it was that I was being asked to do.

For my visual learners, this document camera would truly help capture the process of writing for my beginning writers.

It can be difficult for young learners to understand what it should look like when I am writing on a huge SMART Board with a marker, versus pencil and paper like they are using.
