My Students

We are a Title I school with students receiving free breakfast and lunch. A lot of our parents in our community work for local packing plants that require shift work which means they are not home in the evening or at night to help with homework or read to their children.

Although my students come from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and learning is sometimes a challenge, my students are engaged and want to learn and grow.

They leave my classroom with the understanding of being responsible and with the knowledge that they can succeed.

My Project

My Project

First graders love to experiment and learn about the world around them.

I have chosen grade level activity tubs that will help enhance that learning. It will also help to provide the rigor that our twenty-first century students need.

The chance to see force and motion, insect life cycles, and experience the solar system helps to ignite a love for science early in their lives.

For example, students will learn to see the ways they interact with the environment around them with the force and motion activities. They will also learn how to compare and contrast other living things to themselves with the life cycle science tub.
