This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The thing that gets my students most excited about reading is new books. They enjoy the look, feel and smell of a new book. Excitement grows when new books arrive in our classroom. The students are beginning to read chapter books and I have to find ways for them to delve into this more challenging material.
It's hard to compete with electronic devices but brand new shiny books peaks my students' interest.
The students love reading about new characters and their adventures. As a teacher, I read daily to my students and encourage the students to challenge themselves with new books. Students are sometimes reluctant to pick up chapter books but I find that when I introduce them to new characters, they are more willing to try and read a chapter book. These new books will be a perfect addition to my classroom library. I have also included a TeachersPayTeachers gift card to purchase resources and laminating pouches for reading projects.
