My Project

This school year may be settling down, but I am already thinking about how to elevate my incoming students. I am a 6th grade ELL teacher working with a diverse classroom. The students' greatest assets; diversity, spans past culture- their language, language development, and academic performance range from second to fifth grade. Using the shared love of reading, we can help bridge our differences and build our class community.

The items I selected for this project range in genre and reading levels.

All students will have the ability to lose themselves in fantasy books, learn how to be a scientist, walk in the shoes of noteworthy heroes, and battle the enemy on pirate ships. This project will captivate their imaginations, build their reading comprehension, enhance their verbal skills by building vocabulary, and help develop their writing.
