Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My 1st- 2nd grade English as a Second Language student's enjoy reading The Magic Tree House series and they look forward to seeing where Jack and Annie will be whisked off to next. Reading this series with my students have increased their vocabulary, writing skills, and confidence in reading. The big smiles on their faces says it all!

My goal is to expose my students to different genres of books and chapter books each year.

At the end of the school year, I gift my students the books that we have read together. I absolutely love the look of excitement on their faces when I tell them that their "friends" their books, are now theirs to take home. They scream, cheer, and hug each other. Over the year's, donations from past parents of my students, my family, and myself would provide books for my students.

Now, I need help your help.

Currently, my 3rd -5th grade students are learning about the adaptations of plants and I thought it would be a cool idea to read excerpts from a book I am reading called "The Hidden Life of Trees". My students fell in love with the book. The book explains how trees communicate with each other and they thought it was the coolest thing. They begged for their own copy so I promised them that I would give them their own and we could read our books together.

Your donation will provide books for my current student's and my next year student's.
