For the Love of Reading

Help me give my students a variety of books for many different readers and interests so they can develop a passion for a book or series.

My Students

Being away from school due to COVID 19 for a long period of time many students lost the passion for reading. The students are great pre-teens who care for one another despite their background or socioeconomic status. Whether in the classroom or outside at lunch or recess you will see different groups of students mixing with others outside of their grade level or usual groups of friends. This year our school is trying to emphasize the importance of reading on a daily basis and to truly find a passion for the written word.

My Project

While students learned at home for almost a year due to COVID many of them didn't have the resources to read books at home. Thus, students only did their homework and went on to being "plugged in" to video games, You Tube, and TV. This year having the students in person has shown that some have lost the will, motivation, or passion of reading books.

We have decided to strongly emphasize the importance of reading both non fiction and fiction books and are committed to getting all our students back towards the motivation of reaching their reading goals.

But more importantly to find a book they just cannot put down!
