Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have taught mainly K-3 and will be teaching 5th grade ELA for this current school year. I would love to upgrade my classroom library to a more appropriate novels for the reading levels of my scholars. Competing with technology is difficult, by providing exciting and thought-provoking literature, scholars will be immersed in the reading for pleasure as well as instruction. The Click365 Transform 2.0 Ergonomic Fabric Swivel Desk Chair for the reader of the day, the boxed novel sets and easel pads, various writing utensils will be used during small group instruction for novel studies, intervention and throughout the stages of writing development.
I want to provide scholars with fun items in which to enhance their growth and mastery.
My scholars are special because this will be my second year working with them and I know they enjoy learning new things. They are committed to learning something new each day. Teaching ELA is a change and a challenge for us that we welcome!
My scholars are from diverse backgrounds and it is important that they have books that represent their values, experiences and traditions. Using a variety of fun and practical writing utensils, such as markers, highlighters, pens, pencils, etc., to foster written creativity is a main goal. Creating anchor charts on easel pads and referring to posters on historical timelines and events will aid in scholar understanding of the material presented in novels and our curriculum units. Some of my scholars access the written form through auditory experiences on their personal devices that require batteries for scholars needing to verbally recount their ideas.
