My Students
My students come from a rural, low socioeconomic background and school supplies are low on the list for many families. My students face plenty of challenges inside and outside of the classroom. I want to create a classroom where they feel safe and comfortable. I also want to give my students literacy opportunities that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. It’s my ultimate goal to share and create a love for reading and writing in every single one of them.
My Project
Each day, I see over 90 5th grade students. I teach the 5th grade literacy standards but more importantly I’m teaching them skills in reading and writing which they use in every other subject. As a first year teacher, our classroom is bare compared to veteran teachers. We currently have one set of classroom novels (Wonder) and we are looking to expand our small library. A class set of these novels will allow to differentiate literature circles and novel studies! We would really appreciate your support in adding another set of novels and creating choice in our classroom! Thank you!
