Help me give my students Jason Reynolds' "For Every One" at their 8th grade promotion ceremony as a reminder of how much I believe in them and how bright their futures are.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have had the privilege and honor of being our rising 9th graders' ELA teacher for the entirety of their middle school careers. As such, this class has a tremendously special place in my heart and while I am so heartbroken they're going to high school without me, watching them grow and mature over the past 2 years has been one of the greatest joys of my life and the highlight of my teaching career.
The current 8th graders are unbelievably resilient, incredibly bright, and so very capable of achieving greatness and it is my sincere wish that "For Every One" encourages them to be brave, to persevere and to believe that dreams are worth chasing even in the midst of uncertainty.
My students deserve the whole world and I hope to be able to provide them with this book to celebrate their hard work and as a reminder that I am always in their corner rooting for them!
