This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, students' health is a foundational piece to reaching self-actualization. Our students will have a hard time reaching that final stage unless their health needs are met first. This is where the following items selected fulfill the goal of addressing students' needs. The edible item fulfills students physiological needs under Maslow's hierarchy of need, which is the first level to self-actualization. All other items address students' social emotional need. Students will be able to use the fidget toys to cope with the stresses and anxiety they are experiencing as well as be able to take an animal.
Overall, the students I serve have developed their resiliency through the many obstacles they face on a day to day basis.
My goal of this project is to be able to remove some of those barriers by addressing some of their basic needs through the use of these items but at the same time, equip them with skills they can use the rest of their lives.
