My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. Many of them come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their community.
They come from an area which has recently been deemed a Coronavirus "hotspot." Keeping a classroom routine and some sort of structure in place is crucial not only for learning but for their social and emotional well-being.
Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners. Throughout this time I have set up some fun challenges for them to be creative with and want the opportunity to reward their effort.
My Project
By having food available, my students will stay full and focused, so they can pay more attention to their school work and complete their daily tasks while doing distance learning! This will help increase their motivation day in and day out consistently through the day!
“If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger” - Buzz Aldrin
My students come from many diverse backgrounds and providing the basic needs for all of my students is one of my top priorities. I believe that my students benefit greatly from having a daily snack/food. My students will learn better with a full stomach and providing them with this need will help increase their energy!
A snack in the morning and/or afternoon is exactly what they need to stay full and focused.
These snacks would make an amazing reward for their hard work and for their families to enjoy also.
