My students need foods for breakfast and snacks since many of them are not able to eat breakfast since they have to leave home early in order to arrive on time for class.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Ms. don't visit where I live..it is not safe." Everytimes I hear one of my kids say something similar to this, I am always sad that so many of my kids are faced with this challenge in their everyday lives.
Most of my students are young men and women who choose to attend our school because of the safe environment that we provide them.
Many of them travel over an hour to get to the school. Because of their early morning start, many of my kids leave their home without eating breakfast. In addition, many of them do not have snacks. As a result, it is not abnormal for my kids to complain that they cannot focus because they are hungry.
My Project
Ms. Ina May Gaskin states: “Gardeners know that you must nourish the soil if you want healthy plants. You must water the plants adequately, especially when seeds are germinating and sprouting, and they should be planted in a nutrient-rich soil. Why should nutrition matter less in the creation of young humans than it does in young plants? I'm sure that it doesn't.”
It is difficult to grow a healthy mind when my kids are dealing with hunger.
Their bodies need nourishment so that they can reap the full benefit of a good education! Food is such a simple thing yet not all are guaranteed this right.
