Food Pantry Boxes

My Project

In a school district where nearly 100% of the student population qualify for free lunch, it begs the question of what families can afford to feed their children when they are not in school. For some students, the summer is the hardest time of the year. At least during the school year, Monday through Friday, students receive breakfast and lunch from the school. What happens during the summer? To combat this issue, our school started Bronco Kare Korral, a school-run food pantry for families that live in Memphis, Tennessee. To properly run the pantry, we need moving boxes and packing tape. We will pack a box full of food for parents and families that visit our pantry on Fridays.

Each Friday throughout the summer, our student volunteers will prepare nutritious food packages to support needy families.

Volunteers and staff are responsible for fundraising, food intake, pantry organization, and packing boxes.

The ENTIRE pantry is run on food and monetary donations of the school's students, staff, the community, and local businesses. We do not want to use monetary funds to purchase boxes over other essential needs.
