This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are so fabulous. They come to school and want to learn. I want to keep them excited and motivated.
Attendance incentives and rewards keep the students coming to school.
The school goal is 95% attendance. That is missing only 8 school days a year. This is especially hard when many of our young learners are walking to school. When the weather is bad it is easier for them to stay home than it is for them to travel to school.
When the students know they are missing out on something special they have more of a purpose to show up everyday. These snacks allow us to give out rewards for students who come to school during bad weather, on 1/2 days, and for those students who improve their attendance.
The food items also provide breakfast for students who come to school late, because I encourage the students to show up, even if they wake up late, or have no ride in the morning. This way they are only missing part of a day, instead of a full day of instruction. When they arrive late they miss breakfast.
Help me to provide the students with food items and snacks to stay focused on coming to school and being feed well enough to stay focused on learning.
