Food & Fitness Class Healthy Snack Options

Help me give my students healthy snack options in our Food & Fitness class! They are learning about foods that will nourish their bodies and how to choose snacks that will satiate them while still feeling good later.

My Project

My goal is to have snack options for my students that provide certain nutrients for their bodies while we discuss different nutrition units. These snacks will give me a chance to talk about benefits in each one and how to choose alternatives to certain snacks that will help them feel good longer!

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” We talk about a wide range of food and nutrients in class, but many students households do not have the financial abilities to try many of these foods.

This snack project will give me the chance to apply knowledge to foods I know they will be familiar with while also having the potential to be financially obtainable for them to seek out outside of school, if they wish. It is very important to me to help students learn about and find healthy food/snacks within their budget that they can apply to their lives and take with them after this class/graduation. A donation in this class project is an opportunity to help not only in a short term necessity, but a long term opportunity. Not only will the support be so very much appreciated by me, but the future adults these children will grow into. They may never get to personally thank the strangers that helped them in learning to take care of themselves through this donation, but they will know there are good people in the world that truly care about them and their well-being.
