Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My School is a K4 through 8th grade public school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We serve an extremely diverse population including many ethnic/cultural backgrounds, varying social/economic backgrounds, and a wide array of academic needs. Our students come from a mix of African American, Latino, Southeast Asian, and Caucasian backgrounds. Welcoming refugee students from various parts of the world has become a norm.
For our students to be ready to learn, we need to meet their basic needs.
That is why we are requesting food, clothes, and hygiene products. Additionally, we need a few more floor seats for our group work, these alternative seats help students maintain focus and comfortability within group settings.
When students have clean clothes, full stomachs, and a clear calm mind we can assure that they feel more comfortable among peers in school, and they are capable of learning. Many of our students rely solely on our school's breakfast and lunch so extra snacks are always helpful to fight hunger. Throughout the year we go through many clothes, and we always tell our students to keep the clothes and so rebuilding our stock of clothing to support our students in need who may be facing homelessness is vital. This project will aid with emotion regulation due to the warmth, care, and wellness our students will receive through your invaluable donation.
