As one year comes to an end, another one is fast approaching. Every year my students start from scratch when it comes to the necessary supplies they need for learning. My students are a diverse group of amazing children from different socioeconomic backgrounds, races, and religions. They have hopes and dreams for a better future and want to be the best they can be! It is my goal to provide them with a safe, loving environment and the tools they need to be successful.
Many of my students are from low socioeconomic status environments that lack the 'extras' children are supposed to enjoy while growing up.
Many live with a grandparent, a guardian, or in a single-parent home. We are a very rural community about twenty minutes away from a small neighboring city. It is my job as their counselor to provide them with new experiences and a lifetime of love for themselves and others.
My Project
My students are at the age where they are starting to develop into the people they are to become. They are learning how to express themselves appropriately, and how to positively interact with others while also developing academically and thinking about their future. Unfortunately many of my students face obstacles that I cannot even dream of. Many come to school hungry, dirty, and don't have the basic materials they need in order to thrive while at school.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our entire school community and mold our young learners by allowing them to dedicate more of their energy on learning.
These drawstring backpacks will be used to support our weekly Food Angels program. We have partnered with local area churches to provide food bags to be sent home with students every week, but many do not have room in their regular backpacks to carry their food.
This will change my students' lives for the better because they will have their basic needs met and focus their attention on developing academically rather than being embarrassed for receiving extra food from the school. They won't have to worry about being hungry, dirty, or unprepared for school ever again.
