Folders & Portfolios: Keeping Our Future Professionals Organized

My Project

Help my students stay organized and on track for success! Many of my Family and Consumer Sciences students come to class without basic school supplies, not because they don’t want to succeed—but because they simply can’t afford them.

With your support, I’d love to provide them with durable three-prong folders with pockets and pencil holders, as well as 3-ring portfolios for my advanced students; these organizational tools may seem small, but they will have a big impact on my students’ ability to stay focused, prepared, and successful in class.

I teach high school students in a vibrant and growing Family and Consumer Sciences program. Our courses prepare students with real-world skills in child development, nutrition, financial literacy, and more. Many of my students balance academics with jobs and family responsibilities. They are hard-working, creative, and eager to learn—but basic supplies are often out of reach.

The folders will allow students to keep important class packets, worksheets, and notes neat and organized. Each folder includes a pocket for pencils—ensuring students always come prepared.

The 3-ring portfolios will be used by my Child Development 4 students as they complete their educational portfolio, the final project of the course. These portfolios will include their resume, “10 Reasons to Hire Me” essay, letters of recommendation, volunteer hours and community service, lesson plans and unit plans, awards and certificates, special training, clearances, and transcripts.

Students will use their portfolios in job interviews and to organize essential documents for college and career readiness.
