Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come into my room every morning with smiles on their faces. No matter what they experienced the night before, or last week, they see each day as a brand new opportunity to learn and grow. We have a small school, with an extremely supportive community. Our little village is educating children that are expected to strive for excellence in everything they do.
Many of our students are dealing with serious economic, familial, and personal hardships outside of school.
However, their desire to learn is unwavering. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced-price meals, but they have the impressive ability to make the best of what they have. These students are starting to genuinely understand that receiving an education can truly open doors to a better future!
My Project
This project only requests a few simple supplies. I teach three groups of students, so we use folders to keep the student work separate, but organized. We also use interactive notebooks in our classroom on a daily basis. This journal contains notes, practice questions, foldable, lab data, and so much more. The glue sticks will be used to keep our journals intact.
Finally, our grade level always gives students a celebration and gift before we part ways for Winter Break.
We use this time as an opportunity to unwind and relax after a long semester of working hard. The requested slime containers will be included in the gift bags for a fun farewell!
