Help me give my students folders that support communication with parents. These specific folders allow space for me to place homework helpers inside to assist with new tasks.
My first graders are from a small, low-income rural North Carolina town. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Often, many families cannot afford supplies or even a backpack.
These heavy-duty folders are built tough enough to make it through a year of travel in backpacks, forays into the lost and found, and the dreaded water bottle explosions.
Not only are these folders able to withstand a first-grade backpack, they have slots inside so that I can add homework helpers for families to use to help with reading and math homework. Without your support, my students may not be able to have what they need to start the year on a positive note.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
