This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Math interactive notebooks offer several benefits for special education students, including increased engagement, improved organization, and enhanced learning and retention. They provide a hands-on, personalized learning experience that caters to different learning styles and can serve as a valuable reference tool throughout the school year. By allowing students to physically write, draw, cut, and glue, these notebooks make math more engaging and help students retain information through tactile and kinesthetic learning methods.
I first introduced interactive notebooks last school year.
At first, many students were hesitant about using interactive math notebooks, unsure of how this new approach would work for them. Some felt overwhelmed by the idea of adding drawings, notes, and hands-on activities to their math work. However, once they began exploring the notebooks and seeing how they could express their understanding in different ways, their reluctance turned into excitement. The hands-on, creative aspects helped them engage more deeply with the material, and soon they were eager to add their own ideas and reflections. What started as hesitation quickly became enthusiasm as they realized how much fun and rewarding it could be to learn math in a more personalized and interactive way.
