My students need fluorescent light coverings and variety of flexible seat options for the two classrooms they are learning in to help improve positive behavior and focus.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The scholars in our classroom have speech and language impairments. We celebrate learning in our specialized self - contained classroom. As they are kindergartners, these learners are full of energy, potential and many emotions.
Most scholars in my classroom begin the school year as fresh seeds ready to be planted but by the end of the year they blossom into something they never imagined they could become.
It is my belief that due to the smaller size of our number of students, our class feels more like a community or family than just school. These scholars really learn to love each other and take care of each other very deeply.
My Project
My scholars come to my class frustrated and bursting at the seams with the desire to be heard and understood. This project will help them to not have to worry about any distractions such as harsh classroom lights or uncomfortable chairs that do not fit their needs.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Through academic achievement, the students will then increase their confidence without distractions.
It is my goal that with this project, my students will make more progress this year than in years past. The Fluorescent Light Covers will help protect students from fluorescent lights and glare which have been proven to cause eye strain, headaches, and more. By placing these covers on our classroom lights it will cause a decrease in anxiety and increase positive student behavior.
For the more active students in my classroom who cannot sit still or need a variety of seating options to increase student focus and engagement, we also will need an Active Kids Wobble Chair, Balance Discs, and a Wooden Balance Board.
Additionally, the Foam ABC Playmat Set will provide students with opportunities to identify letters as well as have a cushion seat to interact with in whole group activities.
