Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Working in middle school can sometimes be a challenge. However, my students make this challenge an absolute pleasure! Most of my experience in teaching has been in elementary school with 5th graders. Making the transition to middle school was important to me because I feel 6th graders often need a classroom environment that is still warm, friendly, engaging, and rigorous.

I work in a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students face hardships at home that children should not ever have to endure. My classroom becomes their safe place where they are wanted, loved, and accepted for who they are.

My Project

These materials will help our students, as they are often distracted in their normal seats. We have some options for flexible seating already, but the rubber bands and the stand-up table will continue to grow our flexible seating options in the classroom.

Our students love to learn but they all learn differently!

Giving our students the option to stand during instruction or move their feet around with a rubber band will help them focus during whole group, small group, and independent learning. This project will help over 100 students focus and strive towards success!
