Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are an inquisitive bunch of learners! Learning in a typical classroom does not come easy for them. They are enrolled in a program to help them be successful and earn their credits for High School.
The Alternative Learning/Online Academy is designed to assist students get back on track with their graduating class.
Through the program, a student is able to take classes online while still working on classes in the traditional manner. This opportunity prevents most from dropping out off school while keeping them actively engage in their own education.
Our high school is located in an urban environment where students struggle to find resources to attain 21st-century skills. They come from many different backgrounds.
All of our students receive free lunch. These students set high expectations for themselves and work diligently to meet their goals. They work hard and aim high and want more and more knowledge.
My Project
Flexible seating will make a huge difference in my classroom. Each student is unique with their own needs.
By providing a variety of tilt stools and balance balls, students will find one that works best for them.
Allowing students to choose a place to work, that meets their needs, will increase their chances of being successful at school.
Some of my students have anxiety. If they are comfortable in the classroom environment, they will want to be at school. Students who have good attendance and feel comfortable will find success. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
