My Students

I start my year wondering how I can help my students. All of them have their own struggles in their daily lives and I feel it is my job to put a smile on their face. At the end of the year I want my students to enjoy learning and to always do their best.

Most of my students lack the motivation to learn.

They come to school already in a bad mood and it is up to me to get them to smile and enjoy learning. All of the math and reading materials students will love using and show excitement for learning. My students come from poverty stricken homes and most don't know how good it feels to succeed. My classroom is a 1st grade classroom room in New York. A lot of my students come from broken homes or live with other relatives because their parents have made wrong choices in their lives. All of my students are visual learners and my school doesn't have the resources that the teachers need and technology is one of these resources. I have ELL (English Language Learner) students in my room who need more support. I want to ensure that I am doing everything I can to help them succeed. I can't tell you how many times I have looked over and seen the tears of my students because they are frustrated. They have it in them to be great learners and it is my job to do this.

My Project

These materials would be so exciting to have in our classroom. The literacy center chart organizer would help my students be more independent and know where they needed to be and what they needed to do. Oh boy... the nameplate trays would not only remind my 1st graders where they sit, but it will also allow them to keep their pencil in the tray and not play with it. We have hexagon shaped tables and there is no place to put any materials so I always have to collect the pencils so I keep all of their attention. A place to put pencils sounds so great. The class will love the math boards and markers to help practice their math skills and they are so much more fun to use than a worksheet. The chart tablet, file folder organizer, storage rack and magnet hooks will all help to keep the classroom organized. Not only will I know where to find materials, but so will the kids.

Donations will improve my classroom by making my students more independent and take charge of their own learning.

The fun tools will put a smile on their faces when they see they can use hands-on tools for learning. It will change my students' lives by showing them that learning is fun.
