Help me give my students focus tools like watches, fidget items, headphones, and snacks to help them stay engaged. Support is needed to replenish these essential resources.
The last couple of years have been challenging for everyone, especially students. Children are naturally active, but I’ve noticed increased fidgeting in my classroom. Many struggle to focus due to personal challenges, past trauma, and daily distractions. These factors make it difficult to engage in learning, process information, and stay on task.
To support my students, I am incorporating focus tools into my classroom.
After researching, I found several tools that help students concentrate, particularly during verbal instruction. These tools allow students to calm their minds, manage stress, and improve critical thinking. By providing a variety of options, I can help each student find what works best, increasing their engagement in learning.
Additionally, I see a need for tools that support students' focus, organization, and well-being. Simple items like focus watches help students develop self-regulation by providing gentle reminders to stay on task. Focus tools offer a quiet, hands-on way to release excess energy while working. Individual headphones minimize distractions and help students engage in audio-based learning, such as listening to stories or educational programs. Even providing snacks makes a huge difference. Hunger is a major distraction and access to food helps students stay focused and ready to learn. These tools create a more structured and supportive environment, where all students can thrive.
Last year, I introduced some focus tools in my classroom and was amazed at how students gravitated toward the ones that helped most. Many even needed to take tools home due to challenging home environments that made focusing difficult. As a result, I need to replenish my supply to continue supporting my students effectively. Your support in providing these essential tools is greatly appreciated.
