This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been teaching for 15 years and throughout that time it has always been my goal to create a classroom students look forward to walking into each day.

I want to provide my students with a classroom they feel safe, welcome, comfortable and loved in.

I’m requesting various seating options to get my classroom started on the flexible seating path that will continue to enhance our learning for all students by providing them with options other than the standard desk and chair found in most classrooms.

When each of us spend time in our own homes, reading, writing, playing games, etc. we don’t necessarily find ourselves sitting in an uncomfortable chair for hours on end. We want to sit where we are comfortable and engaged in our current activity.

Appropriate, yet comfortable, seating options is what I would love to provide for my students. I want my students to have the opportunity of learning ownership and to develop good learning habits by providing my students with coping mechanisms, such as flexible seating options. These options, such as floor chairs, a vinyl couch, teardrop beanbags will help my students stay focused, engaged, and motivated.

I want to do what’s best for my students. This is not just my space, this is our classroom.
