I teach 3rd grade in a small, rural town in Northeast Georgia. My classroom is full of amazing students. Each student comes into my classroom with different skills and abilities and I work hard to create an environment that allows for those skills to grow. We have a wonderful team spirit and my class loves to work together and help each other. I love to watch the growth that my students achieve each day!
My classroom needs wiggle seats and floor seats to complete our flexible seating options.
My Project
Within the past year, I have introduced several flexible seating options. Flexible seating allows students to take more responsibility in their learning by making choices of seating that works best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are able to choose from a variety of stools, traditional chairs, and yoga balls. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wiggle seats will allow students the ability to move around for those students that want to sit at traditional seats. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. These will also be beneficial for lower tables in the classroom. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
