My Students
My very enthusiastic third graders attend a school located in a low socio-economic area in New York. Many of my students are a part of immigrant families from all corners of the globe. They are eager to learn and love to work in cooperative learning groups. I love seeing their faces when they learn something new or make a connection to something in their own lives.
My students are in an inclusion class which consists of twelve students with various learning disabilities, including ADHD, and sixteen helpful children who act as role models.
My co-teacher and I enjoy the diverse nature of our class. We also love seeing the compassion and understanding this type of class promotes.
While there are so many positives, there are also many challenges when teaching children with disabilities. We have been trying different techniques to keep learning fun and engaging. Please help them by donating to our classroom!
My Project
Many of my students have focusing or attention issues. These different seating options will allow students to choose a comfortable seat that they will be able to focus from. Research shows that allowing students to sit in comfortable, flexible seating options, greatly enhances their focus. With a fulfilled project, my classroom would change quite a bit. I would be able to offer my students a variety of seating options based on what best meets their needs.
As we all know, sitting still is sometimes impossible.
With these stools and cushions, it will make it more attainable for my students. The Kids Kore Wobble Stools are ergonomic stools that let students keep moving while sitting still. The Bouncy Bands will also help children who want to sit at a tradition desk, keep their feet busy which will help them focus better.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
