I am a 6th grade teacher in a rural K-12 building. My students are active on their family farms, in 4-H, and in extra curricular activities. They live in a small town where everyone knows everyone and everybody is willing to help.
They're great kids; full of a desire to learn.
Being from a small school, funding opportunities are non-existent. The DonorsChoose organization will allow me to provide my kids with opportunities, experiences, and materials which would otherwise not be available to them.
My Project
The items in this project will help my students focus more in class. The stability discs are a wonderful way to let students get out their wiggles without distracting others around them. We currently have several of these in class and would like to have enough for every student. The bouncy bands will help provide additional energy releasing resources to students who need/want more than just the wobble seat.
The Essential oils are a wonderful way to make the classroom smell great and provide additional focus to students.
We use oils in class every day. The students love the smell and several have said that they feel it helps them stay focused in class.
The outlet exteners are so we can plug in the crayon sharpener by our pencil sharpeneres. The crayon sharpener will help ensure that all students have fresh looking crayons all year long.
We are 5 ‘10 Days: Martin Luther King Jr.’ books short of a class set. These additional books will ensure that every student has their own book to use when we read this book as a class.
