Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With the teaching of reading taking a shift to teaching towards The Science of Reading, our district is looking to implement a new phonics curriculum called UFLI. This curriculum is an amazing resource to help students build their phonics knowledge. With the students who have already used UFLI it has helped them gain confidence in decoding new words they might not have ever seen before.
I plan on using these materials with my small groups to teach and reinforce phonemic awareness and phonic skills which will improve student fluency.
This research-based method will ensure that my students will become fluent readers, spellers, and confident in all other academic areas. In order to better our UFLI time, I want to provide my students with their own set of letter manipulatives in order to create hands-on learning.
