My Students

I know everyone says that THEIR students are the most talented and creative, but that's because they haven't met my students yet. The choir and A Cappella program is a diverse group of students that perform all over the community. Although about 70% of our student population is low SES and many students have limited resources, especially when it comes to technology, their drive for experience and knowledge is unmatched.

My students are poets and singers, dreamers and rappers, doodlers and beatboxers, actors and leaders.

They utilize every opportunity to grow as performers, and in the process, learn the necessary skills to grow into mature, young adults.

My Project

My A Cappella groups have been invited to perform in the Total Vocal performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City! They will sing with singers from all over the world under the direction of acclaimed composer and arranger Deke Sharon. Students will be in rehearsal for two days then perform with all their new friends on the Carnegie Hall stage. What a dream come true!

In order to get from Illinois to New York, we need to purchase airline tickets for 36 students!

This is quite an expensive endeavor, and it's obviously not the only thing we need to raise funds for! Therefore, we thank you for even considering donating towards this project as this will truly be a life-changing experience for all of the students.
