Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Every week, over five hundred students rotate through my classroom for STEM lessons. We learn about our world through hands-on investigations and lessons. By combining Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, students will be learning how to think through problems and come up with solutions.

Each year our entire school gets the opportunity to observe the life cycle of a butterfly where every student in our school will have the opportunity to watch the miracle of metamorphosis.

They will watch as the larva eat and eat, change to a chrysalis (pupa), and emerge as butterflies. Caterpillars and food are passed out to each classroom teacher with easy instructions on how to keep our little friends healthy and happy. Students look forward to raising the butterflies in their classrooms, and with everyone being back in the school building the level of excitement will be even higher.
